Claire has already done the London Marathon this year but she didn’t want to stop there…

So she signed up for the Loch Ness Marathon to raise money for the RNLI.

Claire is running in memory of her cousin Brian Barkley who worked on the Miller Oil Platform and died on the 1st April 2009 in the helicopter crash coming back from the platform.

She says “Loch Ness is a hilly marathon and definitely will be a more challenging run and the RNLI were a key part in the search and rescue after the crash that I thought it would be a fitting tribute to Brian to run in his name and raise money for a charity that helped to bring him home.”

  • I’m running this too but it’s my first ever marathon. Very scary stuff. Hopefully I will be able to pull in more sponsorship closer to the time so I can reach my target http://www.justgiving.com/thommckiernan

I’ve just started doing longer runs at the weekend in training for it but it’s killing me! Anyone got some good beginner marathon tips?
